Pros: its a router
Cons: they mass produced it!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: None
Cons: Only worked when wire-line connected to router.
my desktop wire-line connected to router. It worked ok. However, other labtops couldn't wireless connected to the router.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Disconnects twice or more daily.
Bought this a couple of years ago.. since it was cheap (store had a discount going on). It has been more of an hassel.. I have not changed it until now since I did not used internet at home. For the past few months I have been working a lot from home and its a pain in the rear to have a router thats disconnects randomly twice or more each day. Linksys customer support is the worst I have dealt with. These guys do not know a single thing to fix issue.. they will talk to you quoting from an Operator's Manual.. or something..
Pros: Works great for a few months
Cons: keeps on disconnecting
tried upgrading the firmware. ipconfig shows the router but when I ping it, no response. I giving up and just replace it. it is not worth the hassle.
Pros: easy plug and play
Cons: often need reset factory setting
I'm using BEFW11S4 router by Linksys, it was nice, but from the 1st time i use it already hav a minr problem, wireless connection will oftenly lost connectivity after a long while usage and the router need to be reset or Power OFF then ON to refresh. Then recently the router 4-ports having problem where my router does not respond/PC does not recieve packet from router.Hoping for technical support from others since i have contact the Linksys technician.
Pros: CISCO Brand
Cons: Keeps disconnecting and nothing special
Expecting the CISCO brand would bring in great features, I was disappointed when I found out the number of available port forwarding slots was no more than lesser brands, and there were only a few more features.
I use the regular PPPoE connection which means the router has to dial up through ADSL. I would say it successfully does so 2/3 of the time.
I was okay with the above, and was happy using it for three months, when suddenly it keeps disconnecting the PPPoE connection. It does this several times an hour, sometimes within minutes. It is impossible to play games on the net, or download any large files. Even writing in forums is a hassle when I kept losing things.
Not sure why this is happening, but judging from the other reviews, it seems others have also had this problem. The router is great for a few months, and then it fails.
My router can get pretty hot. I am not sure if this is the problem or a symptom. Hope others would mention if this is the case with them too.
By the way, it has disconnected three times during the time it took for me to write this review. No kidding.
Pros: fast when it actually works
Cons: after 3 months it disconnects all the time
Dont buy this its a damn ripoff linksys wont help you with this either, after a few months all you get is disconnects
Pros: Works sometimes
Cons: Always letting me down, TERRIBLE tech support
I'm going to have to buy a different brand. All I want is to come home from the office, open my laptop, and get back on the network. But it is randomly freezing up so that I have to unplug it and plug it back in. The log file is sooo weak, it doesn't even log the time when things happen. I have nightmares about calling Linksys tech support. It's like calling Compaq used to be. Perhaps I shouldn't blame them since there is just no helping this product.
I'm on the latest Firmware, version 1.52.02 and still have problems. Other desktop computers in my house can't get on either. I've tried every IPCONFIG command to try and get back on the net, but the only thing that works is resetting it.
Pros: Fairly dependeble
Cons: locks up sometimes
I have had this unit for a couple of year now and am probably ready for a new one. So far this router ha done everything I have asked of it. Being dependible is something thst has value. Even so this is an old router by current standards but it still works for me. Thanks.
Pros: easy to set up
Cons: keeps disconnecting
I am going to buy a different router. This one worked fine for the first 3 or 4 months. Now it keeps disconnecting. It's happening once a week now. I need this for work so this is really a problem. A co-worker of mine had the same problem with this router, she switched routers and she says she's not having anymore problems.
I looked around on the net, I see many people are having the exact same problem.

Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: Wireless computers refused to connect to router
When I set up this product for my uncle I used the CD and it took me through all the steps to set up the router properly, and it even worked. I was able to access the internet through any computer that was hooked up at the time and also was able to transfer files without a problem. I turned on the WEB encryption and still was able to access other files on other computers without a problem that day. The problems started to occur when for some reason both of the wireless computers were refusing to connect to the router, then I was unable to see the router with a wired computer to change the wireless settings. I then proceeded to reset the router according to the manuals instructions and when I turned it on again all I got was a flashing power light. I then called Linksys's tech support and they told me to get a new one thinking that this one was defected. Well it turned out that not only was that one defected but the one they gave me to replace it with did the same thing. Tech support did absolutely nothing but tell me to return it and get a new one. If you want a cheep product that does not work this is for you, Good Luck.
Pros: Easy to setup.
Cons: Questionable quality and bad support.
I had it for 6 months and then started to fail and eventualli died.
Had to deal with crappy tech support for a month to convince them that router hardware was hosed.
Why would I have to pay to send the bad router back to Linksys if it failed?
Got a replacement had it for 2 weeks and so far so good.
Will see it it last longer that the first one?
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
I have been using it for 5-6 months and then BOOM! It just stops working. How sad.
Pros: works when configured
Cons: you're on your own with troubleshooting
The Punjabi tech support weenies don't know their asses from holes in the ground.
Pros: wired or wireless has great internet connection
Cons: Tech support not the greatest
I bought this router (ver. 4) along with the ethernet bridge WET11 for the Playstation 2. It works great after installing the latest firmware. I had some problems at first with the Playstation not connecting to the internet the second time 24 hours after the first connection. Firmware upgrade solved this problem. Tech support is not the greatest but searching their knowledge base on their web site is good.
Use this alot, durable, and well made, love it
System works very well. Satisfied with performance.
I have had mine for over a year now and it has never let me down. Its easy to use and has very good range.
After hooking up a Belkin router(wireless) and adapters, I got poor reception. After six months of frustration, I switched to Linksys and have had excellent reception right from the beginning.
can u hook this router up to a regular computer and not a laptop? and if so does this come with something to hook up the computer to the router??? i need to know
WHAT IS THIS? hOW U WORK THIS
Everything installed smoothly had a minor problem with laptop wireless card called the help desk and 20 minutes later I was in business. Very pleased with system coverage and speed
I use the Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router on XP without any problems. I connected the router to the computer using an ethernet cable. There was no need to install any drivers. I use a cable modem which plugs into the router.
My second computer was connected via a wireless USB device. This computer made use of Windows ME. A driver needed to be installed, but other than that, the process went quickly.
I may have spent a total of 10 minutes on installation, with little trouble after that.
How does it work with the XP, does anybody know?
