    A little over five years after releasing the powerful Christmas at the Brooklyn Tabernacle album, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir returned with Light of the World, another heartfelt holiday album. The Grammy- and Dove Award-winning choir balances holiday favorites like "O Holy Night" with new compositions by Carol Cymbala like "It's Christmas," "His Plan," and the title track. This same blend of old and new made Christmas at the Brooklyn Tabernacle a success back in late 1995, and it works again here. Not only is Cymbala an accomplished songwriter, but she also happens to have one of the nation's best gospel choirs backing her along with beautiful orchestrations by the Prague Symphony. If you like contemporary Christian/praise worship choirs and want a good album for the holidays, you can't go wrong with this.

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

When pastor Jim Cymbala and his wife Carol came to the Brooklyn Tabernacle in 1972, the church consisted of 15-20 people. Carol started a choir about a year later with nine people. Today, the choir has 240 voices and 6,000 people worship there every week.
