  • Overall:

    WP WOW

    By Christopher  Jul 20, 2001

This was my first WP album, but not my last! Disc 1 could be the very best "side" of live music ever recorded. The songs flow effortlessly from track to track producing a single 72 or so minute song that is absolutlely incredible.

  • Overall:

    Not bad

    By ScottP  Jun 26, 2001

Not a bad album, lots of songs. The recording of it isnt great for live albums though. Dave Matthews Live at Red Rocks I think proves this. Gives a listener a good impression of what the band is about live though. Drum solo is good. Worth owning.... Read more Less

  • All Music Guide

A live double CD document of Widespread Panic's estimable onstage powers. Picking up on longtime stage favorites and album tracks, all given the lengthy jam-infested treatment a live show affords the group, tracks like "Diner," "Greta" "Barstools Dreamers" and "Impossible/Jam" all clock in at over ten minutes, with six others stretching over seven minutes. Branford Marsalis makes a stellar guest turn on "Pickin' Up the Pieces," but the real stars here are the group itself, running a decade's worth of material for audiences that can't get enough of it.

Biography

Widespread Panic

One of the many neo-hippie jam bands which inherited the road-warrior mantle left behind by the Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic established a devout grass-roots following on the strength of constant touring and a loose, rootsy brand of Southern rock informed by jazz and blues textures. The group's origins dated to 1982, when vocalist John Bell and guitarist Mike Houser ... Read more
