    Disc 2, Track 1

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 29, 2002

The entire album is a wonderous work of beauty, but the first track on the second disc is the centerpiece. It's so incredibly beautiful, sad, hopeful, urgent. I can't describe it in words. It's moving, Especially the around the end. Listen on a grand... stereo. Amazing stuff. Buy immediately. Read more Less

    Celebrity Not Needed

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 30, 2001

I really appreciate bands that care about their music instead of their own celebrity. GYBE! write songs that both whisper and explode into your soul. They're music is what Mozart could have been making for the 21st century.

    What music should be

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 9, 2001

This band makes music that is made of pure awe. They make music that makes you want to slip into a dream, that makes you happy to be alive and that re-affirms your belief in music. It doesn't get much better than this. Unlike most bands, they seem... to relalize exactly what music should be composed of and what it does not need. This album is just the latest culmination of their considerable talents. Thank you for you effort. Read more Less

    what more could someone want?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 29, 2001

This album is flawless. It's beautiful and carries emotion as well as classical music. This music is way too good to ever be mainstream.

    godspeed is good!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 7, 2001

well to start things off i gotta say this overall is a good album. there are some boring parts however. i think they couldve done without some of them because some just stretch too long and serve little purpose. imagine radiohead and VAST in their... early years getting together to do a really long album. i like it! Perfect album?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 9, 2001

I'm not a guy who often gives away five stars because I always think there is no such thing like perfect music. Godspeed has come awfully close, so I had to round it upwards. Disc one has some weak moments: I don't like those long ongoing little nois...es that for me have no real purpose. But disc two is heavenly. You can't shut it off, every disturbance you get will irritate you. You're captured from the beginning to the end. You cry, you smile, you go crazy it's all on one disc. I hate this record because all the other cd's are like crappy, sloppy compositions. Thanks a lot Godspeed for ruining my entire disccollection. Read more Less

description in words of disc 2.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 27, 2000

[transmission: 2000-11-25 - 9:33:00]so it's early morning saturday after i've been asleep for about ten straight hours. i obtained the new godspeed you black emperor album, double cd set, called lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven. i list...ened to disc one last night and went to sleep. amazingly amazing stuff that disc was, ended in waves upon waves of beautiful feedback crashing and swirling and spiraling all over. pure genius in the use of the studio.i am now starting out the second disc and so far starting here at minute six i'm about to go nuts and describe through words: it's very good, and it's fitting my moods just right. nice and mellow, nice and absent, nice and apathetic, nice and dark, nice and angst, nice and not so nice at the same time with twiches of compassion, passion, wishing there was no reason to hate, no reason to rage, no reason to feel, no reason to love, no reason to accept things the way they happen. wishing there was a way to change the past, take back things said, remove the bad and insert that which was meant but never poked through. the world comes crashing slowly around and around and around but never quite manages to fall into its wrong place and picks you up off the ground, twisting your flesh into a new shape that ends up much more comfortable than before. your new state of being is one of pure mentality and not physicality. thought processes speed up, and you can hear nothing but the screaming (10:24) and the torture and the falling. endless floating and falling and being pulled under into an unknown, a variable, and you are frightened beyond fright, you are excited beyond excitement, you can't think, see, feel, touch, smell, taste, or do much of anything straight. nothing seems real, nothing seems completely possible, but these things are beginning to form, these solid thoughts are coming out of the screaming. the screaming. someone stop the screaming. stop the screaming! the screaming! stop the screaming! it's you screaming, you slowly realize.
