Lifesong by Casting Crowns
, August 18, 2006Reviewer: Diamond in the Rough - See all Diamond in the Rough's reviewsPros: terrific lyrics
Cons: none
Casting Crowns had to come out strong after their debut album and I was not sure they could top such a powerful worship album, but they proved me wrong. Lifesong is filled with amazing lyrics, terrific music and leaves you in tears at the same time joyful and praising God with all your might. Praise You in the storm has become the theme song for my life.

Pro Reviews: Lifesong
| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews One of the brightest spots on the CCM map in 2005, Lifesong was powered by a second dose of Mark Hall's earnestly challenging worship themes and a penchant for reflective pop. The Florida band's sophomore album was the 2 bestselling Christian record in 2005. It nearly went gold after four months in release and came a mere 20,000 units short of overcoming Switchfoot's Nothing Is Sound for the top spot. The megahit title track seemed ubiquitous for months on end, culminating in a pair of Dove Awards for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year and Group of the Year. Hall's artistic balladry buoyed other hits including Does Anybody See Her, the story of a wayward young woman and the church masses who unrighteously judge her rather than reach out. This type of "painful but true" storytelling never seems heavyhanded, which may explain the CD's runaway success. Listeners seemed to take comfort in the scripturebased calls to action that challenged churchgoers to admit their shortcomings. Songwriting credits include Nichole Nordeman on Stained Glass Masquerade. From start to finish, the album showcases songwriting that is consistent, polished, and potent, furthering the septet's reputation as one of Christian music's most popular acts of the twentyfirst century. - Jared Johnson, All Music Guide |

Pros: Powerful words, uplifting music
Cons: When is the next release by Casting Crowns :(
One of the best contemporary Christian albums ever....A collection of Praise & Worship and Gospel songs...this album is made up of Powerful words, uplifting beats, honest confessions, even a few warnings to lukewarm Christians....
Some of my favorite songs:
"Praise you in this storm" builds on the theme that its ok and "normal" for Christians to suffer and fail...that God is still with you, inspite of all indications to the contrary....great listen for those who're going through situations...
"Set me free" is about a humble soul in the depths of sin and depravity calling out to Jesus to rescue...the way the tempo builds up, as Jesus comes close to the demon possessed man is remarkable...
"In me" is about trying to gloat in our weeknesses as we go out and evangelize.....His strength is more than enough to sustain us...The short solo by a child artist is fresh and beautiful...
"Father, Spirit, Jesus" is a worship duet as we worship God not just with our words, but also our lives....
"Love them like Jesus" is about Christians making a difference in the lives of fellow Christians who suffer..it subtly, ever so subtly warns against judging others as "You don ...
