Synopsis: Libby, Montana (2006)

Synopis: Beneath the picturesque Rocky Mountains, along the pristine Kootenai River, lies the all-American town of Libby, Montana. But something is amiss in the quaint community: nearly one in three residents suffers from serious lung disease. For nearly 30 years, members of the blue-collar community were employed by the multinational corporation W.R. Grace to mine and process vermiculite, a commonly used product in such items as house insulation and potting soil. What the people of Libby didn't know, but the corporation and the U.S. government did, was that the vermiculite dust that drifted through the town contained a particularly vicious and lethal form of asbestos. This remarkable documentary goes inside the town, examines the consequences of the past, and follows a group of citizens that band together to fight for their rights, and battle the corporate powers.
