Spurred by the public's rekindled interest in postpunk and shoegaze acts like New Order, the Jesus and Mary Chain, and, notably, the Cure, exCure member Laurence "Lol" Tolhurst, vocalist Cindy Levinson, and Dayton Borders formed Levinhurst in the early 2000's. The group's first album, 2004's Perfect Life, was an electropop affair that recalled the gauzy nightscapes of Tolhurst's former band as well as the aloof, clinical nature of artists like Imogen Heap and Kraftwerk.
