The fourth enstalment in the popular action series directed by Richard Donner and produced by Joel Silver is the most entertaining one yet. Lethal Weapon 4 continues six years later from the 3rd, Riggs (Mel Gibson) is going to be a father, Murtaugh (...Danny Glover) is going to be a grandfather and there is even the chiming of wedding bells for Riggs and Lorna Cole (Rene Russo). Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) is back and funnier than ever, only this time he has now achieved his way into becoming a P.I. and now has a possession of a gun (oh how he has been dying for that day to come). The gang is now joined by junior detective Lee Butters (Chris Rock) who when teamed up with Leo, the results are absolutely side-splitting. The entire gang is now up to infiltrating a counterfeiting ring run by Chinese triad Wah-Sing Ku (the ever amazing Jet Li) who proves to be the toughest of all adversaries. Critics have hailed the Lethal Weapon series but have somehow only hailed this one because of the energetic Jet Li who breathes life into what seems like a tired franchise. This I believe is only half true, as all actors do give hilarious and commending performances, but the key to this movie is Jet Li, who showcases his unmatchable martial arts expertise as he does in all his other classics. Although all actors are heavily envolved, Jet Li tends to steal every scene he is in and proves to everyone what we already know, that he is a tremendous actor and the best martial artist alive today.
