    The Real Deal

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 12, 2004

    Pros: Soulful rock and roll

    Cons: None

The version of "Get Back" here is not the same version as on the single. This is the album version, remixed. This album proves that the Beatles were the greatest band ever. It's one of the most bluesy, soulful albums they ever did. Anybody who appreciates good roots-oriented rock music will enjoy this CD. It is superior to the original Let it Be CD. They've taken out the superfluous studio chatter and a couple throw-away tracks. But for those who are interested in that stuff, there's a bonus CD filled with it. I'll say it because it's worth pointing out: The Beatles on their worst day were better than the Rolling Stones on their best. And yes, Ringo was a better drummer than Charlie Watts. Harrison was a better guitarist than Keith Richards. And no one in their right mind will deny that Lennon, McCartney, Harrison AND EVEN STARR were better singers than the tone-deaf Mick Jagger. The Stones were nothing but hype, the Beatles were the real deal. Only Led Zeppelin ever came close to the Beatles' mystique.

Pros: Ghostbusting on Phil "Spector" LOL :)

    Cons: The negative reviews

I liked it. I think that the only reason this didn't get released until now is because of the evolution of CD technology. The first CDs to come out didn't have the technology to do the songs justice. Another thing is this whole unreleased, rare music fad didn't start catching on until the late 80s and didn't fully catch on until the mid 90s. I often talk about having completed certain collections like The Beatles, Donna Summer, or The Monkees and there is always somebody out there who quickly points out all the bootleg CDs they have. I am not totally against bootleg CDs(I have a few myself), but it is unfair to the artist who worked hard on the music to make money. Look at it this way: If you had this great product you made and wanted to sell it. How would you feel to find your product on sale by somebody else? I say so what if you already have bootlegs of this music. I have everything The Beatles legally released. I happen to think "Let It Be...Naked" is great. If you want more music from these sessions then buy "The Beatles Anthology Volume 3" or play it if you already have it, because that is where the rest of it is. Everything The Beatles recored is classic and this is no exception. Definitely a must have to complete your collection for now until they unearth more.

    Nothing new, really...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 4, 2003 | 1 out of 1 found this Let It Be... Naked review helpful

Pros: Nice to have the stripped-down songs

    Cons: Incomplete and essentially non-necessary

First of all...the version of "Get Back", used on the original "Let It Be" lp, as well as "Naked", is the SINGLE 45rpm version...for the original "Let It Be" album, the "live comment" about "Passing the audition" was just kinda spliced on, at the end. On the "Naked" version, the spoken part about "Loretta" was just hacked off...and I am very disappointed...for now, even though I have the "Naked" LP...I have the same music as on the original "Let It Be" LP, only LESS of it!

I have heard enough "Let It Be" bootlegs and out-takes to know that there's TONS of more interesting stuff that "could" be issued...well, in much the same spirit as "Beatles 1", the "Yellow Submarine songtrack", and yes, even the re-released, stripped down "All Things Must Pass", we Beatles collectors have no choice, but to buy the same material OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I was especially disappointed with all three "Anthology" albums...featuring, largely, inferior takes of songs already released...instead of the many songs, never released, that could have been included.

Try and find the book by Neville Stannard, "The Long and Winding Road"...toward the end of that book, he lists titles of songs that have NEVER been released anywhere, as well as a 29-minute version of "Helter-Skelter"
; that I'd LOVE to hear, but will probably never get to.

As with Elvis...I am beginning to think that one will never find a good deal on newly-issued Beatles stuff, because like fools, we buy the same stuff over and over. I feel like I'm forced to do it, since I'm a Beatles collector. Yes, I'll keep buying Beatles stuff, but I sure wish new stuff could be released once in a while.

Okay, so as far as "Let It Be", (the NAKED version), yes, it's pretty good, and I am glad that "Don't Let Me Down" was finally included on the LP, since Lennon played that song many times in the movie; it's nice to hear the great fidelity, and the LP is full of good songs, so as far as it goes, YES, it's a good LP. Still, I'm disappointed in it, for the reasons I've already mentioned.

And the powers that be will probably just keep releasing the same old stuff over and over and over...sheesh...

Don't Let This Be ! Buy It As Soon As Possible!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 24, 2003

Pros: Gave me "Shivers" up my spine.

Cons: Fans - If you don't like this CD...Your Crazy!

This CD just blew me away!! Cleaned up, Crystal clear and un-cut with no influence of Phil Spector. No Orchestral movements. No "Fluff". This is just "Hard-core",&qu
    ot;Frickin","Na
ked" Beatles...This IS the REAL Let It Be!! Do me a favor, Buy it and play it "Frickin" Loud!! The first time I played it, My jaw dropped and I got the "Shivers" up my spine! On the the other hand, It almost brought me to tears. I miss John Lennon and George Harrison so much! Listen fans...Realize two things 1)You better re-visit the work of Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr while they are still with us! 2)Let It Be...This WAS THE ALBUM not Sgt. Pepper, This truly was the end...this was the final goodbye, when they walked off the roof of the Apple Records Building that day - The music world changed forever and NEVER will be the same again.

    Buy This!

Pros: Beatles; John, Paul, George....& Ringo!! 'Nuff said!

    Cons: Who is this "Khan?"

Seriously if you're a Beatle fan from way back you probably already own this. If you're a second generation Beatle fan like me, if you don't own this, you should. And for you newer kids, check it out. Listen to where most of todays bands got their influences from, if not musically, then at least in spirit. I don't know if you could have called any Beatles LP non-essential, but listening to this alternate version of the album will make you realize that yes, stripped of the Spector gloss, there were some damn fine tunes here that can stand alongside anything on Abbey Road or Rubber Soul. I don't even know where to start; Get Back, For You Blue, Long and Winding...the one I've enjoyed listening to the most right now is One After 909. Just listen to how much fun and energy these guys could still pump out. Don't Let Me Down is also a wonderful addition to the mix. Really, I can't recommend this highly enough. Yes, I do miss some of the chatter, but now the record just sounds more realised, and it seems to me to just make more of a statement. Thanks alot, lads.
