    Early promise fades, much like Leona's voice

    Pros: Some amazing melodies and arrangements

    Cons: The lyrics sometimes leave a bit to be desired

    I've heard much from Leona's previous album "I Tried to Rock..." but avoided "Comatized" because the album cover disturbed me too much. I caught Leona performing 'Calling' on Leno a few weeks back and was transfixe...d by the song and the performer.I specially imported the album (it's not available in the UK) yet my excitement faded to pleasant interest. 'Calling' is by far the best song, showcasing a good use of structure, vocal, harmony and instrumentation. Leona's voice seems to become weaker and weaker, more fragile, as the album progresses. Whether this is a device to illustrate the subject matter or bad production is not known. Don't get me wrong, the album is good and there are many aural delights, but Leona sometime sounds like she has been stunned by the rock, and actually sounds comatose... Read more Less
