  • All Music Guide

Leon Sylvers, III, had enjoyed so much success singing with his family and then producing and writing hits for Dynasty, Shalamar, the Whispers, and many others that he was probably unprepared for the reaction his self-titled solo album would receive. Not only didn't it make the charts, it didn't even elicit a nibble. It was feebly sung and even more poorly produced and arranged, a shocker considering the source. But Motown was in disarray in the late '80s, and this album was a perfect indication of how bad things were at the label.
