Like me at first, if you've never heard of Bob Marley, then just get this CD. Legend is a compilation of the best Bob Marley hits. The CD never gets boring. It's been out for 16 years and is still on the charts. There is not even one boring song on ...the CD and all the songs have a real meaning and are sung from the heart. You buy this CD and you'll be buying a bunch more. After I bought Legend I bought like 10 more Marley CD's. Read more Less

    Pros: all the hits

    Cons: flawless

This is the best albumever not much to be said. all of the hits are here, and you really get a feel of bob marley' and the wailers and how they have evolved. However be warned, this is not nesisarily an album that only stoners would like much, ...being as its already very mellow. Don't be fooled by his rep as a pot smoker, he is a great musician and so are the wailers. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Legend

  • All Music Guide

The classic Marley album, the one that any fairweather reggae fan owns, Legend contains 14 of his greatest songs, running the gamut from "I Shot the Sheriff" to the meditative "Redemption Song" and the irrepressible "Three Little Birds." Some may argue that the compilation shortchanges his groundbreaking early ska work or his status as a political commentator, but this isn't meant to be definitive, it's meant to be an introduction, sampling the very best of his work. And it does that remarkably well, offering all of his genredefying greats and an illustration of his excellence, warmth, and humanity. In a way, it is perfect since it gives a doubter or casual fan anything they could want. Let's face it, the beauty and simplicity of Marley's music was as important as his message, and that's captured particularly well here.
