Assembled for the U.K. market in 1984, Legend consists mostly of Bob Marley's British hit singles, which came in the second half of the 1970s. The Deluxe Edition improves the collection, as reissue producer Bill Levenson, recalling that the original British cassette version had two extra tracks (in the mid-'80s there was an attempt to boost cassette sales by including bonus tracks not available on the comparable LPs), has added back those songs, "Easy Skanking" and "Punky Reggae Party," to the song list. And there is an entire second disc consisting of remixes that were done in the 1980s and, for the most part, released then on 12" singles. Not all of them repeat tracks from the first disc. The previously unreleased remix of "Lively Up Yourself" and the remix of the studio version of "No Woman No Cry" (both originally on Natty Dread) are new to the set, as is the remix of "Coming In From the Cold." The version of "Buffalo Soldier," which was a posthumously assembled track to begin with..., is very different, with an entirely new percussion track, and the version of "Exodus" runs nearly nine minutes. - William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide Read more Less
