Cons: It may be too realistic for younger students, not every person survives the journey.
This software gives your student a real feel of what the Early Settlers went through during the time of the Gold Rush. The player has to plan ahead and make decisions about what supplies are needed, how to transport them and who to team up with. Money, and supplies are limited. When the money is gone you must sell something you have to get what you need.
It is very realistic in demostrating both the triumphs and tradegies the people endured. If wrong choices were made tradegy stikes and the player is left with decisions about how to continue on or turn back.
This is good software for American History and geography. ...

I purchased the game from The Learning Company and I downloaded it onto my computer. So I tryed to call and ask some questions or maybe even a Refund. Well There is No Customer Service. The automated menu over the phone brings you in circles without and live person help. Poor Poor Poor Customer Service But great game when you can get it to work. ...
