Larry Crane was John Mellencamp's sideman from the Chestnut Street Incident days of 1976 through the completion of Big Daddy in 1989. Over the years, he played lead guitar and various other stringed instruments, while adding a great deal to the overall flavor of each John Mellencamp album. His last visible collaboration with Mellencamp was the Falling From Grace soundtrack on which Crane wrote four songs, including "Whiskey Burnin'," which he recorded as a solo project.
