Lalo Gonzáles (born Eulalio González on December 16, 1921, in Herreras, Nuevo Leon) began his career in radio soap operas, where he created the character Piporro, who made him famous. Piporro, musician-adventurer of the north, was a hugely popular character and was later revived in films where he was often paired with Pedro Infante. González seemed to almost become Piporro, and the character spawned a series of recordings and performances by González in real life.
