The LG VX6000 is the picture perfect example of technology and innovation. With its built-in camera, complete with zoom control and three resolution adjustments, the new VX6000 from LG creates a totally new experience for mobile users everywhere!

TThe LG VX6000 features the newly launched picture messaging service from Verizon Wireless. The most robust picture messaging service on the market, this new offering from Verizon Wireless lets customers use photos to personalize their wireless experience and easily share special moments. The new service gives Verizon Wireless customers a visual way to communicate; they can snap photos using the VX6000 and then upload, store, share and send pictures to any e-mail address or any Verizon Wireless TXT Messaging-enabled phone- a feature unique to Verizon Wireless customers - in just a few simple steps. Sharing unforgettable moments with friends and family through LG's simple-to-use graphical interface with Verizon Wireless' picture messaging service makes it an easy-to-use wireless multimedia service.

When sending a photo from camera phone to camera phone, customers simply take the photo and then can add a text message, one of five pre-programmed digital "frames" or an audio file to the photos. They can also include up to four minutes of audio or a sound effect (a pre-programmed ringer or downloaded sound) to accompany the photo to further personalize the message.

The LG VX6000's sleek silver shape has a new twist on the trademark LG clamshell design with an external Organic Electro-Luminescent (OEL) display, a feature that saves valuable battery life as well as enhances the phone design with functional, colorful flashes of moving light.

The LG VX6000 offers one of the only zoom control features available. Shutterbugs can zoom in on their subjects up to four times and adjust the resolution of the photo with three settings: Low (160x120), Medium (320x240) and High (640x480).

    Top tier product

Following the reviews given in Consumer Reports on it's predecessor - the LG VX4400 - I decided to take a chance on the VX6000. The main difference is the built in camera technology. This phone has so much more to offer than I will probably ever ...use. It's fairly easy to program and has voice dialing, voice notepad and a host of features including download of games, apps and plenty of rings (including some rings that sound somewhat like a phone). If you're looking for a top of the line phone at a great price, this is the one. And adding Verizon as a carrier gives a range unmatched coast to coast. Read more Less

Great phone for the money, but some annoyances

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 2, 2003 | 48 out of 58 found this LG VX6000 review helpful

Pros: 262K TFT screen, small , ergonomic, and easy to use, voice dial, T9 text messaging, extra features like scheduler, calculator, notepad...

Cons: Cradle charger, only digital, low resolution camera, no way to export images, no speakerphone

I have had this phone for only a few days, and like it so far. This is a cool clamshell with an LCD display that will blow you away. The menus are extremely intuitive and easy to navigate. Upto 30 names may be stored on the voice dial, which works ...quite well. It also has a huge phone book capacity with 200 speed dials (which is an overkill). It has a host of other features, like a mini-browser, scheduler, notepad, calculator etc, and may be customized quite a bit if you are willing to pay for it. It does not have any inbuilt games, but they are also available from Verizon GetItNow. The battery life is decent, lasted me almost two days with judicial use. It might drain faster if you keep clicking pictures or leave the LCD on all the time. The camera is a low-resolution one without a flash, so dont expect it to replace your Canon G3. Needless to say, at this price, it does not have bluetooth, and at this size, it does not have an IR port. So, unfortunately, there is no way to transfer the images off the phone except through verizon, and that costs 10 cents per picture (or $5 per month for unlimited transfer). You can purchase a data cable to sync it to your PC if you need to, which I think cannot be used for picture transfer. The most irritating feature of the phone is its cradle charger. This means that, unlike most other phones, you cannot plug in the charger in the middle of your call and continue talking even if the battery runs down. In fact, they strongly advise AGAINST using the phone (maybe with a hands-free kit) while it is charging. I wish LG would come out with a plug-in charger that may be used while talking. The VX6000 is an all-digital phone, so before you opt for it, look at the verizon map and make sure you dont frequent the light pink areas a lot! However, in the city, I have pretty good signal in most areas, maybe slightly better than the trimode phones that my friends use. The ringer and earpiece are loud and clear, but it does not have a speakerphone. On the whole, if you dont mind all-digital and the cradle charger, this is a good phone to get. Read more Less

    Picture-Perfect Phones

Some of the latest devices tout higher resolution, digital zoom, photo effects, and exposure adjustments. Our top choice is Motorola's V600 for its useful photographic features. Consider Nokia's 3660 if you want to record short video clips.Mobile phones with integrated digital cameras are improving. On top of their now-common organizer features and e-mailing abilities, many of the new models have higher image resolution and such camera features as exposure adjustment, digital zoom, self-timers, and even the ability to apply effects like black-and-white, negative, and sepia.
