Kyle Fischer is one of the driving forces behind alternative rockers Rainer Maria. After releasing several albums with that band throughout the late '90s and the beginning of the next century, Fischer struck out on his own with his first solo album, 2001's Open Ground. Although he had not left the band to make the album, it was the first project he had done without the Rainer Maria tag on it.
