The drifty, breezy, electronic indie pop of Sweden's Kuryakin nods to influences ranging from Enoch Light's Free Design to St. Etienne, and places them in the same musical territory as artists like Miracle Fortress and Frankmusik. Kuryakin are a duo comprised of Petter Gjores and Johan Norberg, who met while attending university in Uppsala, Sweden in 2002 and began making recordings together one year later. Kuryakin made their debut on the 2005 Friendly Noise comp Are You Scared to Get Happy, and they released a threeetrack demo EP, Birds, that same year. The duo had a couple releases in the works three years later; the Fought a War EP, released on Fast Cut Records, and the Still Here EP (which included a bonus seveninch), released on Shelf Life, both came out in 2008.
