Pros: Super compact, high quality photos, good battery life
Cons: .MOV movie format, night mode inconsistent, lens in ackward palcement
Excellent camera for the non-professional photographer. It's size allows it to be taken just about anywhere. Non-protruding optical zoom lens keeps subjects from being distracted by the camera. Intuitive controls. However, lens is in upper co...rner and it is easy to accidentally put a finger over it (but you get used to it very quickly). For under $300 it's a great value. Read more Less

Pros: Size does matter
Cons: no direct power plug
This thing takes excellent pictures. The small size means you won't mind carrying it all the time and thus won't miss pix opportunities. The only drawback is that you must remove the battery to charge it. Some cameras let you just plug in ...the entire camera to recharge. I assume the camera's small size wouldn't allow for that feature. Read more Less

The DiMAGE Xg is a good choice for business users, tourists, sports enthusiasts or anyone that needs an ultra-compact and durable, high resolution digicam. I would recommend also looking at our DiMAGE Xt conclusion, considering that it has the same features plus A/V capabilities and a handy charging cradle. This is a point-n-shoot camera that can be just as easily operated by novices as experienced digi-photographers. The 2048x1536 size images can make photo-quality prints up to 8.5 x 11-inch size. The overall image quality is very good and the equal of much larger cameras. Read more

DCRP Review: Minolta DiMAGE Xg
The Xg is a pure point-and-shoot camera, with no manual controls at all. Photo quality is good, but you can expect vignetting, blurry corners, and an overall ""fuzzy"" look to your images. With that in mind, I see the Xg fitting in either a ""second camera"", or for those who are doing small prints or web pictures (as the image quality issues will be apparent at larger sizes). The image quality issues are the price you have to pay for that unique lens design. All-in-all, I do recommend this camera, but do your research carefully before you buy, as there's good competition.
