Full Featured Camera w/ Excellent Optics

By DocDaver  May 12, 2004 | 24 out of 26 found this Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 review helpful

Pros: 28-200mm sharp lens, SLR like handling.

Cons: Noise at ISO 400, 800. F1.8 would be better than F2.8

Overall excellent camera. Handles like a true slr, manual zoom is excellent. Manual focus over ride is another nice feature. Control layout easy to use. Takes sharp and well exposed pictures, better than my Olympus 5050Z.Flash under exposed slightly,... I added +0.7 flash to compensate. This would be the ultimate camera if they added a 1.8 - 22f stop range for the lens and supress noise at ISO 400 and 800. Don't know about support, so rated it middle (3). Othwerwise the Minolta Dimage A2 it is a joy to use. Read more Less

    Great Bridge Camera

Pros: Good Zoom Range, good manual controls, buttons and switches for most functions, anti-shake, PC-Sync port!, best electronic viewfinder

Cons: Noise above ISO 200, low light performance in general

This is one of the most feature rich cameras I've used. It has more features than my dSLR. Images get pretty noisy above ISO 200; that's pretty much my only complaint. However, for coming less than $300 used, it's a great deal.

    Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2

Taken as a package, the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 is tough to beat, and is clearly at or near the top of the heap relative to the other 8-megapixel "enthusiast" cameras on the market. A powerful photographic tool, and an easy choice as a "Dave's Pick." Highly recommended. Read more

    DCRP Review: Minolta DiMAGE A2

When working properly, the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 is an impressive 8 Megapixel camera. The problem is, both of the A2s that I tested had problems taking sharp photos. But more on that in a second. Read more
