    Love this camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 16, 2007 | 18 out of 18 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

Pros: Easy to use, Great zoom

Cons: Need to buy the charger and battery

I bought this camera for my wife and she loves it. I end up using it too. We decided to keep the Kodak Z712 and sell my old one (Minolta G500). The zoom is unbeliveable but I wish they include a charger and a battery. This camera is not compatible wi...th NI-MH batteries you have to buy Lithium Batteries (AA or CRV-3). It's a very good buy. The video quality is perfect. Read more Less

    Easyshare Z712

    Pros: Zoom Capability, Picture quality

Cons: no battery meter, uses a lot of "juice"

I bought this camera to augment my stable which includes a Pentax K-1000 film camera and a little HPE317 point & shoot digital. Each one has its uses and the Z712 fills in the gaps beautifully. You DO have to use Lithium batteries and it hogs throug...h those because of the motorized zoom and focus so I am in the market for a charger (they are readily available and reasonably priced). NiMh batteries work for a short time but I don't recommend them in this camera. I also asked Kodak customer service about the battery meter. They're "sorry" but It only shows up in the view finder when its time to change the batteries! To me, that's too late! Carry charged spares for sure! All-in-all, I recommend the camera. I got mine for $225 and it is worth every penny of that! Includes a professional quality neck strap and lens cap. You can shoot all automatic or make it just about as manual as you wish. Everything I Need!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 21, 2007 | 7 out of 7 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

Pros: FAST, huge zoom, manual settings, auto mode, low light, IS

Cons: Need to get the rechargeable batteries and charger

I had been looking for a new camera for a few months to upgrade my old Kodak. I was always pleased with my old Kodak, it was just very limited in what it could do. I had been looking at the Z712IS for a bit, read reviews, and thought about it for qui...te some time. I'm so glad I decided on it. It took me some time to get to know all the settings that it offers. But I am having so much fun and the photos are outstanding. I love the zoom, low light settings, large LCD screen, manual settings, etc. It's a great little compact camera. About as close to a DSLR you could get I think. I did go through the included batteries pretty quick, but used the LCD screen, zoom, and features a LOT. I took a lot of photos playing around with it. But I have the Kodak Klic8000 batteries and a charger ordered. Read more Less

    Your last Pre-SLR Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 28, 2008 | 5 out of 5 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

Pros: Great Shooting, Great Controls, Great images

Cons: ISO's above 400 almost unusable.

From ISO 64 to 200 in auto or manual mode, I haven't a single complaint about this camera. It takes great pictures, the glass is great, the zoom is powerful. ISO 400 is noisy and blotchy. If you know a bit about photography and a bit more about ...Photoshop, you can use ISO 400 ISO 800 or higher is pure desperation to get the shot for you memories. I find the images largely unusable. The camera seems to try to apply noise reduction to the high ISOs and does a pretty lousy job. With a tripod and some realistic expectations, you can avoid using the higher ISOs. Still, I can't tell you the amazing photos I have taken and the even more amazing photos I have seen taken with this camera. And for the 170 dollars I paid, the value is beyond belief. I'd buy it all over again. Coupled with my Kodak 5300 printer, my output rivals anything I've had processed at an in-store lab. Read more Less

    Kodak Z712

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 10, 2008 | 4 out of 4 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

    Pros: Great Zoom Lens

    Cons: No EVF Diopter Adjustment

I was looking for an upgrade for my DX6490, and this fit the bill and had more to give. Shorter lag time, 12x Optical zoom, burst options and higher ISO lets me take great indoor sports pics. The camera body is not as beefy as the DX6490, but the ad...ded features make up for that. Yes, you must the KLIC-8000 battery and charger. I purchased two batteries, the AC charger, Car charger, and updated my older docking station to accept the Z712. So as far as power, I am good to GO! Read more Less

    Great soccer Mom camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 20, 2007 | 4 out of 4 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

    Pros: Great pics

Cons: recharge battery hard to find

Takes great pics, big zoom and action shots with kids are great. Saturated Kodak color, not for pro's or serious photogs, but great for the layman. A quick read thru of the manual tells you everyting you need to know about settings and such. Have...n't had a good camera since Cannon AE1, but since days are busy and I'm not a hobbyist this suits me - not too much to learn. Plus, price tag is relatively low so if it dies or I lose it in Disney, I'm OK. Get rechargeble batteries off ebay - not sure about asian knockoffs. Read more Less

    Great Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 22, 2008 | 3 out of 3 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

    Pros: Great Zoom

Cons: You have had a video option

I bought this camera one week after I had bought the Z710, the price was right and I just needed to have it. I am very happy with it, however, in comparism to the Z710 which has a video option this one does not. I really wished that it was included a...s part of the features since this camera is an upgrade to the Z710. Rechargeable batteries is a must have for this camera. Read more Less

Great camera if you only need it for a month

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 13, 2008 | 2 out of 3 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

Pros: excellent picture quality, easy to use

Cons: quit getting power after a few months

After less than one year of buying this camera, it quit working. It was not damaged in any way and was not used often, but it drained batteries rapidly (within 5 minutes, and that's using the viewfinder instead of the screen) and would not transf...er photos without full power. If it needs fixed, the warranty is very limited, and it costs an arm and a leg to send it out for repairs. On-line customer service is absolutely redundant. While the picture quality is fantastic, the software is difficult to use, takes up a ton of memory, and is very intrusive. I loved this camera for about five months until it quit working. The Z712

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 1, 2008 | 1 out of 2 found this Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Zoom review helpful

Pros: Excellent Camera lightweight Great photos

    Cons: Battery

Have used this camera for about 7 months now, excellent all around camera, easy to use, very nice video quality and sound in video as well. Take spare batteries with you and a couple good sized SD cards and your set. 1 512 sd card will get you 100 sh...ots in 7.1 mp at fine settings. Video will eat up sd card space though , so take a spare with 2 gigs. Very nice quality camera, nice pc interface as well. I do Digital , to PC to Disk shots for people Real estate, Law firms, Auto shows , and this Camera goes everywhere with me . Love it !!!!!!!!!!! Read more Less

AS Good as it gets in a point and shoot

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 23, 2009

Pros: Easy, Great Pix, cheap, very good optical lens, Incredible Flexibility

Cons: Shutter lag, MP should be higher,

I am amazed at the kinds of photos I can take with this camera. It gives me exceptional results time and again as long as I allow the settings to match the conditions. I also get great results in auto mode. However, I do get irritated by the shutter... lag for missing some amazing motion shots. And I wish I had higher MegaPixels. I will have to upgrade soon to a DSLR to get the quality I want. In the mean time, this camera can be set to so many different adjustments that it can really create a great image in almost any conditions! I would definitely get it again, and may buy a second one for my kids! I don't believe you will find an easier camera with these kinds of results for the price. Read more Less
