KODAK EasyShare Z7590 and printer dock

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 9, 2005 | 19 out of 20 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z7590 review helpful

Pros: Great quality and easy to use.

Cons: Printer dock paper jams and printing is slow.

Extremely easy to use right out of the box! Controls are simple, even for a beginning digital photographer. The owners manual is well written and easy to understand. Picture quality is outstanding for a 5 megapixel. On the down side, the printer dock ...paper jams frequently and tends to print slow. Read more Less

    Good For a traveler

    Pros: other lenses available

Cons: non that I can think of

I compared this camera with a lot of other brands last winter before a 2 month tripto Central America. The most important ting for me was what type of batteries were to be used. I chose this camera because I didn't have to carry a bunch of dispos...able batteries. It was the only camera that I found that I could buy a charger with plugs to be used anywhere in the world. I was never out of battery power on my wholetrip. Read more Less

    Pros: optical zoom

    Cons: bulky

I've taken thousands of pictures and lots of movies with mine. Everything is great with the camera. I don't use the software of the 'favorites.' I didn't see the advantage to using 'kodaks' version of these things that I c...an do with windows explorer / view thumbs and clicking through pictures that way. I would highly recommend this camera for it's quality pictures. Read more Less

    Worth the Wait

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 3, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z7590 review helpful

Pros: Nothing I can't do with it

Cons: High contrast viewfinder and wide angle not enough

I looked at this camera for a long time and used several digital cameras before settling for this one. The combo of the camera and the printer also came with additional paper that helped seal the deal. The large LCD screen is a real plus but the ele...ctronic viewfinder does take a little getting accustomed to. It's easy to forget that it also has a video mode (can't zoom in that mode). The battery life has been more than satisfactory. I bought a spare battery but rarely find I need to change when I'm out and about. As with all zooms, the ratio is a compromise. The maximum optical zoom is quite good and I rarely need of go to the electronic zoom. The wide angle is not quite enough for my liking. Kodak sells a wide angle attachment that attaches through an adapter. The adapter can also be used for filters (like a polarizer). I purchased the wide angle attachment later and find that I use it fairly often. It significantly adds to the weight and size of the camera, however. But if you are used to 24-28mm wide angle shots on a 35mm camera, then this lense attachment is for you. The flash is a little underpowered even for short range. It does a reasonable job of providing fill light in a backlit situation or in bright sunlight it can soften the shadows. Get a 256 or 512 MB SD card. For the high resolution modes, the ability to take more than 150 pictures before downloading is useful for a day of sightseeing. And you can use them for video (512 MB gives about 30 minutes of recording time in 640 x 480 mode). The printer produces clean, crisp pictures. It does take a minute to print them. The basic software to catalog and manipulate images is okay, but if you are familiar with more powerful graphics software, the Kodak Easy Share will seem limited. The name says it all as it's not designed for a wide range of photo manipulation. I've had my camera for 4 months and have been very happy with it. I sometimes forget some of the creative power and features I have with the camera. That comes with practice. If you don't want or need the flexibilty of all the various modes available, a simpler point and shoot might be better. But if you have moved from conventional film SLRs (or still use them as I do), you won't feel limited by this camera. Read more Less

Next best thing to an SLR

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 14, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z7590 review helpful

    Pros: Versatility

    Cons: Power Switch

I have had this camera for about a year and love it. About two months ago, I bought the wide angle and telephoto lenses (about $130.00 a piece). I also have a variety of filters such as circular polarizers, UV filters, cross screen and neutral densit...y. I have taken pictures never thought possible from an outfit in this price point. The menu is easy to use. You have full control of the lens and speeds. If you make a setting mistake, you can return to original settings at a push of a button. Read more Less

    Grab it and go

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 25, 2006

Pros: Small enough to take anywhere, big enough to be comfy to hold

Cons: limited scene settings, can't seem to get it to zoom on video mode

This is the perfect camera for those who like to just grab their camer and go out for the day. It doesn't need any setting up and you are ready to take photos as soon as you turn it on. The options are enough to keep a pro happy and few enough to... not confuse a beginner. Big enough to comfortably hold. Read more Less

Pros: This camera does everything and then some

Cons: The book is too thick. For a camera like this, it should come with video instructions.

This camera not only take pictures but records videos. I took my daughter to see the Cheetah Girls. I set up an album on my camera for Cheetah Girls. All the pictures and video recording for that event is in that album. When I connected the camera to... my computer, the camera syncronized itself and added the pictures and videos in that photo album. It's so easy and convienent. I would highly recommend this to any and everyone. Especially to anyone that think they can't operate a camera. When I added the pictures to my gallery (with Kodak), I bought the pictures and they were mailed to me within a week. I am currently creating a family calender which will have different pictures of me and my family and the events we shared during the year. Read more Less

Pros: excellent zoom capability, wider LCD screen, packed with features

Cons: wish it had other additional scene modes on top of the pre-sets

yes i agree with the previous reviewer that the on/off button sometimes is hard to use. it doesn't turn on immediately when you press it. you have to make a second one to activate. but over-all, i love this camera!
