    Bryan's Review

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 1, 2004 | 16 out of 17 found this Kodak EasyShare DX7590 review helpful

Pros: Great zoom and good MP count.

    Cons: Have not found any!

I love this camera. If a big optical zoom is important I believe this camera is the best for the money. For the price you receive 5 mp, a 10x optical zoom, plus it comes with an easyshare dock. I really think this is the best midline camera around.... Read more Less

    Very Disappointed

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 22, 2005 | 4 out of 6 found this Kodak EasyShare DX7590 review helpful

Pros: 10X Zoom, numerous presets, large LCD, nice size

Cons: bad quality photos, no help from Kodak

This is my 4th digital camera, my last one being a DC290 which I wish I had back. I took great indoor pics on Auto Mode, never a complaint. I've taken hundreds of pics with the DX 7590 and kept about 10 good indoor pics. I've read until I&...#39;m blue in the face all the help pages, forums about improving digital photos etc etc etc etc, practiced in all modes, compared settings, added extra light, monopod, tripod... still get dark and blurry pics indoors for the most part. I can't comprehend all the technical options for adjusting aperture, ISO, shutter speed and all that in manual modes, and did not intend to have to go to Digital Photo School to take good pics with a point and shoot digital camera. I took great pics with my older cameras and with various model digital cameras that belonged to friends. Not real satisfied with outdoor pics either compared with my previous model, and it was only a 2.1 Mega Pixel I believe. This is a 5 Mega Pixel with 10 X zoom. The zoom doesn't help a lot if your pics are blurry anyway. This is a great looking and great feeling camera, but after a month of working with it, I am totally dissatisfied and wished I had physically shopped around first before buying another Kodak. Cons: cost a little more for the extra zoom

I am a very new user when it comes to digital camera's. This one is very easy to use and takes very professional quality pictures. I am so pleased with my purchase. I paid alittle more than I wanted to but the extra zoom is well worth the extra m...oney. Read more Less

Kodak Easy Share Software and Support

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 13, 2007

    Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: Worst software I have ever used

Impossible to navigate the new V6 software. Most of the screen is taken up with huge icons leaving little room for the pictures. The camera is extremely difficult to use and often provides black pictures when used in moderately low light even if the ...picture is clearly visible on the viewer. I am very sorry I bought Kodak and an desperately trying to learn how I can download my pictures with out using their software. Read more Less

    Pros: greatly satisfied

    Cons: nothing to complain about

I have had many years of experence as a pro photographer using mid sized and 35mm cameras. This was my first Digetal camera , not expecting too much I was greatly pleased with the results it has given me. Now in retirement and just taking pictures f...or my own enjoyment ,I can take my time and really get any results I want . The range is suitable for all my needs but I did purchase a set of closeup lens to fit for usage of copying slides. A bit unconventional but results were possiable using computer without the cost of buying a scanner. In reading other personal reports on this unit I would tell the majarity of the owners to really take time to sort out their usages and pratice more to isolate the camera's functions. I would advise everyone to use a tripod as often as they can and see for them selves the extra time and stability will give you excellent results. Read more Less

    Kodak EasyShare Z7590 -

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 11, 2007

Pros: 10X zoom; manual exposure controls; easy operation; versatile burst mode; solid battery life; connection for external flash

Cons: Image quality merely acceptable; LCD and EVF ghosting.

The Kodak EasyShare Z7590 looks great on paper: it has a 10X optical zoom, a 5-megapixel resolution, an SLR-like electronic viewfinder, and manual exposure controls. Unfortunately, its photos tell a different story. A variety of artifacts, including ...purple fringing around highlights and noise at higher ISO settings, drop the Z7590's desirability a few notches. Still, niceties such as an action-ready burst mode and a standard PC (Prontor-Compur, not personal computer) connection for an external flash will appeal to photographers who love to play with a full set of features. This camera shares much of the DNA of its 4-megapixel cousin, the EasyShare DX6490, but costs more and has twice as much internal memory (32MB), nearly a dozen more scene modes, the PC flash connection, and the ability to specify JPEG compression ratio (either Standard or Fine). The EasyShare Z7590 also lets you zoom in twice as far (8X) during picture review. Its 3.9-by-3.2-by-3.2-inch dimensions are boxy, but the handgrip makes the 13.5-ounce camera comfortable even for one-handed shooting, and the most-used controls are readily available without juggling. Sports and wildlife photographers will be drawn to the EasyShare Z7590's 38mm-to-380mm (35mm-camera equivalent) zoom lens, which sacrifices a little wide-angle coverage to pull in distant subjects. This lens offers f-stops from f/2.8 to f/8 in wide-angle mode (f/3.7 to f/8 at the longest tele setting) and autofocuses down to 4.7 inches in macro mode. There's no manual focus capability, but you can fine-tune focus by switching from three-zone to center-spot or selectable zone autofocus. There are lots of buttons to please control freaks, but once you've mastered all the options, you'll appreciate the clever touches. For example, move your index finger from the shutter release to the front-mounted jog wheel, and you can spin the wheel to cycle among settings such as lens aperture, shutter speed, EV adjustment, or ISO setting. Depress the wheel when the setting you want is highlighted in the viewfinder, then jog the wheel to make the adjustment. It provides separate buttons for flash options and macro mode, and a single key cycles between exposure bracketing and two kinds of burst modes. Both the 2.2-inch back-panel LCD and the internal electronic viewfinder are bright and easy to view, but they show an annoying amount of ghosting when the camera is panned or tilted to track moving subjects. The electronics boost the LCD gain when imaging low-light levels and simultaneously increase the distracting multicolor speckles that come from onscreen noise. The Kodak EasyShare Z7590 bristles with advanced features. You can choose full automatic or programmed exposure, use shutter- or aperture-priority modes, or set shutter speed and f-stop yourself in manual mode. There's also a Custom mode you can use to save your own exposure, flash, image quality, white-balance, ISO, or other settings. The 14 scene modes do a good job of optimizing your photos for common shooting situations, including close-ups, flower photography (close-ups in bright daylight), landscapes, night landscapes, night portraits, snow and beach scenes, fireworks, text, museums (with sound and flash disabled), self-portrait, parties, children, and backlighting. The bottom line: If you don't mind just above average photos, the Kodak EasyShare Z7590 will appeal to snapshooters looking for more control. Read more Less

    Good mid range camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 10, 2006

Pros: Ease of use nice LCD display

    Cons: Quality could be better

I am a beginer photographer and this is my first digital camera I like this camera very much indeed , compact ,nice overall features nice LCD display. I would consider the DX7590 an exellent holiday camera. Situations when a falsh was needed turned ...out a little dissapointing though . For the price it is a good camera but if you are looking for pro quality, you will of course have to look somewhere else and in a significant higher price range. Read more Less

    Great Intermediate Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 9, 2006

Pros: Zoom ability, many function settings, quality image color, and its capability to accept other lenses with an adapter.

Cons: Needs image stabilization, having to hold the button half-way down to get the lens to focus, and no manual focus option.

All in all - I'm very happy with this camera. There are many different photo settings on top of the ability to use manual settings. Its threaded to accept adapters for different lenses - so use of things such as telephoto and fish-eye lenses are ...possible. The color quality of the images are simply amazing. I don't feel this camera is very good for beginners or people that can't keep their hands still since it lacks image stabilization support. Read more Less

    Hmmm---more camera than I need..but.......

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 6, 2006

Pros: Amazing clarity and color contrast

Cons: Way more camera than the average person needs

I recently came into the possession of a EasyShare DX7590 and found 2 things... 1. You really gotta get a 1gb memory card. 2. You're going to need a lot of spare time! I spent the first couiple of weeks playing with the video function ...-- which was lots of fun but without the 1gb memory card you can only take about 4 nanoseconds of video. The camera accompanied us on a trip to Florida and we were blown away by the color and clarity of the pictures. As other reviewers mentioned, if you're going to zoom, use a tripod. Without a tripod, I really had to utilize my own body (i.e. bracing myself against inanimate objects and not breathing -- not something I'd recommend for the long haul but it works in a pinch!) After the novelty wore off, I started trying to figure out all the bells and whistle and...several months later...I gave up! It's a perfectly good camera on auto mode (despite complaints from other viewers) and, I suspect, an awesome camera if you actually know what you're doing...which we do not! All in all, it's a nifty little piece of technology but if all you want is point and shoot for pix only, go find something cheaper. It does have that techie "whiz bang" allure, though! Not to mention the bonus of leaving the video camera at home and only take one camera! Just don't forget that 1gb memory card!0 Read more Less
