    A very nice product

Pros: Easy to use, Small, Light, a ton of functions

    Cons: N/A

This Kodak camera represents everything you would imagine the image leader of the world would bring to digital photography. This new technology is as easy to use as the original "Kodak Brownie" camera..."you just point and shoot, we&#...39;ll do the rest." The biggest advantage this camera has over it's competitors is the ease of photo sharing. Just place the camera in the dock and you can do just about anything with it. That includes printing your own photographic (NOT inkjet) quality pictures on the optional printer dock in about 20 seconds. These are 1st rate quality 4 x 6 photographs instantly. It is rare that a product lives up to it's marketing, but this one does, excellent quality all around, a true testament to the big yellow box. Read more Less

    Great 1st Digital Camera

By Eric  Mar 16, 2004 | 19 out of 19 found this Kodak EasyShare DX6440 review helpful

Pros: Easy to use, excellent picture quality, long battery life, automatic lens cover

Cons: Could be smaller, need a carrying case

The Kodak DX6440 is the first digital camera we have purchased, and so far we have nothing but good things to say about it. The megapixel debate was our first priority, and the 4.0MP resolution on this camera does an excellent job of producing clear ...pictures up to an 11 x 14" size. The auto mode is extremely easy to use; just point the camera and wait a second or two for the auto-focusing features to catch up. Pictures in all light conditions turn out great. Daytime picture taking produces awesome colors and resolution, and using the 4x zoom I was able to capture swirls in the water from the top of the Hoover Dam. I was very surprised the first time I used the night mode at the color and detail the camera was able to produce. Once caveat to night mode: you must hold the camera still, or pictures become blurry. The automatic lens cover was an important feature and helps to protect the camera lens when the unit is off. The camera comes with a rechargeable battery, however we have taken over 160 pictures and filmed about an hour's worth of videos on the original batteries! I have yet to install the rechargeable batteries. Suggest purchasing the camera base ($70 if sold separately) to transfer pictures and serve as a battery charger. We bought the camera at a local Best Buy and I opted for their extended warranty service, which costs around $60 and covers everything about the camera for 3 years. DCRP Review: Kodak EasyShare DX6440

The EasyShare DX6440 is a very easy-to-use camera that takes very good pictures, includes several manual controls, and has a modern AF system. The camera isn't going to win any awards for performance, but it does have minimal shutter lag, good low light focusing ability, and a nice burst mode. As I mentioned, image quality is generally very good, though the camera tends to overprocess photos, most notably in the night shot. The camera's movie mode is about average these days, with unlimited recording (with sound) until the memory card is full. The area in which the DX6440 really stands out is in ease-of-use. The EasyShare system is excellent and a great way for beginners to share photos with friends and family. Throw in the printer dock and you've got a home photo studio for around $600. The camera does have a few flaws, though. While most of the camera is built like a tank, the plastic doors are very flimsy. I would've liked manual white balance and focus as well. But all-in-all, t... Read more
