    great camera

By *mel*  Jan 15, 2006 | 8 out of 8 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z730 review helpful

Pros: aperture priority, shutter priority, very responsive, many useful shooting modes, easy auto mode, very good color, sharp throughout zoom range, ergonomic design

Cons: to turn on, you must hold down a small button and turn the control wheel. easy for me, but my dad, who has larger fingers, has difficulties... also, inside photos tend to be overexposed... camera holds only 17-23 pictures with internal memory

I bought this camera at Best Buy for $200 to replace my old olympus D-380 (2MP, no optical zoom, pathetic clunky thing) and I have been thouroughly impressed. Features are great. I've taken some beautiful shots of my favorite subject, flowers. Pe...rfect for beginners and more serious photographers alike. Very highly recommended!! One note about the battery- it is a little rectangular thing that needs to be charged every 100 photos or so. The charger is included, and it takes about 3 hours to fully charge. I was told that this battery will need to be replaced in a year or so; the replacements cost around $50. I think possibly the salesperson was trying to get me to buy the extended warranty, so he could have been exaggerating, we'll see. Read more Less

    Beyond my expectations

    By A.J.  Feb 5, 2006 | 7 out of 7 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z730 review helpful

Pros: Ability to adjust camera settings such as aperture and exposure

    Cons: Photo upload software

For anyone looking for a good digital camera at a good price, I recommend the Kodak EasyShare Z730. It is packed full of features normally seen at a higher price range. High quality jpg images, 4x optical zoom (with an additional digital zoom for tho...se really close up shots), settings to play with to your hearts content, and when you just want to take some good pictures without having to play with the settings there is always the auto picture mode. Easy to use. I do not recommend this camera for those who want to shoot more video than take pictures. The video mode is fun to play with but the quality is on the lower end of the scale. The other drawback is you have to use the software that comes with it to upload your pictures and video to your computer. My previous camera was just plug in the usb, then move the files where you want. This one is plug in the usb, then open the "Easy"share software, transfer the photos, then search for an hour to find the directory it put the photos in. I circumvented the searching by putting a shortcut to the folder on my desktop. The camera will not be on your drive list under "My computer". You must use the software. If anyone knows a better way around it... Please let me know. Overall, despite the software woes, I am content with the camera and highly recommend it. Read more Less

    Great Camera

    By sheff_ne  May 10, 2006 | 3 out of 3 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z730 review helpful

Pros: Good price, good images, nice sized LCD screen

Cons: A bit bulky and videos save in .mov format which is hard to format.

It is a great camera, had it since it came out. Good, bright pictures, good resolution, good battery life, good LCD size. You might have problems editing the .mov videos, cause is a mac format, but it plays well on PC. Never had anyproblems with it,... well made, easy to use, a lot of inside/outside modes to choose from. Great zoom. Great buy. Read more Less

    Kodak EasyShare Review

By Emma  Jun 20, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z730 review helpful

Pros: Size, Battery Life, People Friendly, Quick Upload, Software

    Cons: None

For what you pay for, this camera is great. It is easy to use, even if you haven't had a digital camera before. It also has the option to shoot video, but the video isn't that great quality. If you just want to take short clips to send to fam...ily and friends, it's perfect; but for full feature films--just buy a video camera! It has 4X zoom, and it takes great pictures. I highly reccomend it. Read more Less

Pros: Awesome zoom abilities! Very easy to use for most anyone.

Cons: The control wheel is kind of difficult.

This camera was great and very affordable. I use it all of the time and takes great pictures with any light.I also love how great the zoom is. The pictures turn out great from any distance. The video feature is also really cool!

great camera at a good price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 14, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Kodak EASYSHARE Z730 review helpful

Pros: ease of use, flexibility, image quality

    Cons: none

A remarkably fine camera. Easy to use on the auto setting, and good results with preset functions. Normally leave it set on one of the lower megapixel settings, and the images are quality and enlarge very well. Typically use a 512 Mb SD card to suppl...ement the internal memory (which is somewhat limited). Some may feel that the overall size is a bit large - but being a large person, that feature makes it much easier for me to work the camera controls. Get the Kodak case - the camera fits perfectly and is very well protected. Included software does a good job of transferring images to the computer. Found that the directory containing the pictures is sometimes hard to find, but even when I've lost them entirely, Windows Search finds my photos easily. You could spent a lot more money for a camera system that performed far less well than this one. Read more Less

Going back to my best friend

    By Rob  Aug 3, 2008

Pros: Best quality for under 200 bucks

Cons: Not any I can think of

I had a P&S Minolta GS530 that I lost and was really bummed for a while. It was a great little camera and had a full manual mode. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot, since I am an amateur, but avid photographer. I started researching and found tha...t the Z730 on Amazon had nothing but 5 star reviews, amazing. Even here there are only 5 star reviews. I started using the camera and was really enjoying it. I was doing everything I did with the G530 and more, since the Kodak had the museum setting. Because I had that setting to work with, I was able to work a friends baptism ceremony for his son and get some really nice shots, moving around the perimeter of the ceremony unobtrusively, while there were numerous flashes going off in the audience. The picture quality is exceptional! But to go back to work with full manual and shoot some night shots and be able to work with a tripod in the evening and low light and aperture settings is making photography fun again. This is after going through a Minolta X50 (which I actually like for a fast little get around camera) and a Panasonic TZ3, (which I am supposed to like, but it just doesn't fit my needs). I know I can do without the manual settings, but even so, the TZ3 just doesn't have the soul. I think I'm going to stick with Kodak for my next camera if I decide to go with more megapixels. That's the only thing I think I might want. Maybe 4X zoom isn't enough, so I might start researching that too. But for now, I'm back to my best friend. Read more Less

Pros: Large LCD screen; many features; great zoom

    Cons: software and movie format

I bought this camera over a year ago. It has been great. You will not find another camera in the price range that has more.

    Excellent, period!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 15, 2006

Pros: a bit beefier than some offerings, very sturdy, great features, easy to use/operate

Cons: long pause....cannot, in all honesty, come up with any "cons"

The beefier depth of this camera is perfect for me...I have Osteoarthritis and holding this camera vs. my son's or daughter's slinder-build cameras is much easier on my hands and thus makes it really a pleasure to use. This is my first Digita...l Camera and a major concern was that it has "only" 5.0 MegaPixels; well, fear not. The pictures that I capture are stunning. I can print, with beautiful results, up to 11x14 offerings. This camera is simply: EXCELLENT....of coarse, with the name Kodak, would one expect anything less?! Read more Less
