From AMG Reviews

Although the Bucks would go on to bigger labels and score bigger hits as sort of an ersatz Blood, Sweat and Tears, it was this debut album on the tiny Chicago U.S.A. label -- and the hit that spawned it -- that truly captured the band at its best. Here it is, digitized and in its original 12-song running order, some 30 years after its original 1967 release date. The Buckinghams were an all-around tough little Chicago soul/Brit-pop little combo with a great singer in Dennis Tufano and a genuinely hot lead guitarist in Carl Giammarese. The original album, supposedly recorded in one long marathon session, captures the band live'n'raw, covering Searchers and Beatles tunes, plus James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy" (their first single), a bluesy take on Gershwin's "Summertime," and originals that sound like Kinks and Searchers leftovers, all of it embellished with horn overdubs from pizza-box head arranger Dan Belloc that spawned the early Chicago sound of BST, Chicago, the Ides of March, Chase and others. The CD edition of this debut also includes two noteworthy bonus tracks, a bouncy and very busy "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" (the follow-up single to "Kind of a Drag") and the previously unreleased version of "I'm a Man," done Yardbirds rave-up style and featuring some particularly scorching fretwork from Giammarese. Definitely one to add right next to the greatest-hits collection.

The Buckinghams Biography

If everyone on the northwest side of Chicago who claims to have hung out with the Buckinghams during their heyday had faithfully bought all their releases, the rock group might have sold more records than the Beatles.
