With the endowment of ~CGI technology and the programming know-how of Rare , the Arcade smash Killer Instinct has finally been cut down to size and is available on the portable Game Boy console Remember beating up your brother with the Arcade version? Instead of throwing hard-earned quarters down the drain, you can beat him up at home, in the car, on a bike or in Mrs. Quigley's Geometry class

In case you're wondering, the combo-filled fighting action has been implemented with special attacks, roll maneuvers and charge moves. Stringing a series of button presses together, combination attacks will seriously damage your opponent. Additionally, there are combo breakers and Ultra Combos; while the latter maneuvers prevent massive beatings, Ultra Combos are executed when a character's special attack is piled onto a devastating combination.

There are eight characters including the heroic boxer T.J. Combo, Fulgore, Jago, B. Orchid, the bludgeoning Chief Thunder, a skeleton named Spinal, the beast-like Sabrewulf and the chilling Glacius. Special moves and combinations are specific to the individual characters; the instruction manual lists certain moves including the Ultra Combos.

Killer Instinct features three gaming options including the Tournament, Practice and Game Link modes. The Tournament mode is a series of fights throughout varying levels; once the opposition has been destroyed, you'll fight a game-ending boss character. In the Game Link mode, you and secondary human opponent will lock-up in a brutal battle...provided you have access to a ~Game Link cable and an additional copy of the game. Finally, the Practice mode is for novice players wishing to practice combos and other attacks.

In the Options menu, you can alter difficulty settings, configure the punch and kick buttons, toggle the music and select lighting schemes. What are you waiting for? Slap on those ninja pajamas, kick some butt and take some names – Killer Instinct is here ~ Matthew House, All Game Guide
