Pros: realism
Cons: depressing
you'd swear it was a documentary.. it just felt that real. Very intense and realistic drama. Not a kind of movie I would own, unless I was into depressing myself.
A look into the real lives of teens. There are many "good" teens out there wouldn't participate in perscious sex, drugs, drinking and partying. These are not those kids.
KIDS was an awesome movie. Very disturbing but living in some parts of New York is like that. When I lived there thats all we did. Went around tryin to find a piece, drinkin, smokin weed, and goin to parties till all hours of the night.
NOT FOR CHILDREN! BUT IT TELL THE CONCEQNECES THAT COME WITH UNPROTECTED SEX AND DRUG USING!
This movie is so freakin' realistic / It confronts young people with the shocking matters of today: drugs, aids, unprotected sex. I think if teenagers see this movie that they think twice before doing something stupid.
Great movie, great director. I respect Larry Clark, despite all criticism he gets from ignorant people.
This movie may have a lot of degradeing and graphic images. but it it a great movie for all those skateboarding punks out there. my friends and i are awwed by this great movie. we worship the people in it and are greatly influenced by the actors in this awesome movie. i personally love it and watch it every chance i get. this is truely a well done movie. and i respect the honesty of the director.
I think this movie brought reality better than any other movie I can think of. This film goes to show what realyl goes on in the teenagers living in the world today and how most parents are ignorant about their children. Perfectly done, wouldnt change a thing in this movie, see it or you are missing out
As I watched Kids, I realized that I've heard stories straigh out of this movie. I live in the suburbs and that's whats scary about this movie. Kids takes place in New York which seems so far away and yet the behavior depicted in Kids is so true and accurate to what goes on everywhere in America. I think some of the shock value was taken away from Kids because I've heard conversations seemingly word for word from this movie. To most adults, this movie will shock and appall, but that's how it is, and I believe Larry Clark has done a great service by exposing the ignorant parent to what goes on.
tellys my hero i wanna be like him from now on lol caspers cool too there both wicked people.
KIDS is certainly a great movie about the everyday teenager. KIDS is about sex & drugs in the youth of america. Set in NYC, this is a hot dramatic movie of the teenagers. You should buy it. Also my cousin is in this movie as a kid with a skateboard who was talking to the Jamaican drug dealer before Telly and Casper came in to talk with the guy. GET IT NOW!
KIDS is one of the most gut wrenching movies you will ever see, with adolecents involving themselves with under-age sex,all types of drug taking and street violence.
This is not a movie for the faint -hearted and you certainly wont want to watch this movie with your parents.
If you look under the shocking exterior, you will find important messages about drugs, sex and AIDS,and you find yourself one of the most important movies made in the past 10 years.
As an 18 year old, this movie didnt shock me,mainly because im surrounded with these issues every day, whether it be at a party or conversations between friends, but im 100% POSITIVE this movie will offend some people of the older generation.
The movie itself is directed and acted like a fly on the wall documentary, and thats what makes it more realistic, hence more shocking.
All the actors ar suberb, and i wouldnt be surprised to hear the majority of the dialouge was improvised ,because its so good and realistic.
The movie tells the tale of the teenages escapades honestly and bluntly, never holding back for a second. The KIDS seem to think life is black & white, until the final shocking incident that will change their lives forever.
Not seeing this movie is a bad move if you want to see how it really is.

This movie is POWERFUL. The realistic nature of how a teenagers life is lived nowadays, is unimaginable. Well, this movie portrays it down to a tee. The secret lives of teens are portrayed here, the teens you do not want your child to be or to hang out with can be seen here. Trespassing and running from the Po-po/5-O, house parties with drugs, irresponsible sex and underage drinking. The mind set of Teens today, seek pleasure first and deal with the consequences later is the full message of this movie. Please show this to your parents, to your younger nieces, cousins, sisters, daughters.....to know that you are only given one body throughout the duration of your life and that you should think responsibly of the outcome of all decisions you choose to do with it. Teens today, learn to protect yourself, there are many ways to experience an orgasm without risking pregnancy and there are many safe ways to experience an orgasm without putting yourself at risk for catching any type of STD. Please be conscious and aware of the life you live today and the life you are setting up for the children of the next generation. Peace........Matt
it was a very realistic compelling look at the way things are in the real world as it really is its about time everyone realized how bad thing are this movie demonstrates this fact as it is a saturday in the life of most teens.
I live in country side of west, and after I saw this movie, it gave me chill. Kids are our future and it was sad to know what the movie was trying to represent. Anyway, it was great movie but I guess it's not appropriate for immature kids. By the way, I was surfing through yahoo and found out Telly (Justin Pierce) hung himself and suicided last year. FYI
The message of the film is quite clear, but the delivery is strictly meant to shock the average viewer, pulling few punches. Telly and his buddy Casper are two inner-city kids on a constant quest for sex, drugs, and an opportunity to raise hell. Telly prides himself as the "Virgin Surgeon" preying upon innocent pre-pubescent girls as his livelihood. Jenny, a pretty young girl who was duped by Telly's sweet-talking learns incredibly that she has contracted the AIDS virus.....with her only sexual encounter being the Surgoen himself. The rest of the movie consists of Jenny desperately trying to track down Telly whilst he is buttering up his next victim.
Hearing the raves from children all over the country concerning "Kids", it makes me wonder if the actions of these exaggerated characters is worshipped rather than scrutinized. For the parent wishing to enlighten his child of the dangers of this lifestyle, I'm not convinced that this movie is a legitimate solution. In short, this movie is clearly appropriate only for an adult, but it has made a secret success by appealing to children under the age of eighteen.
this movie although exagerating slightly is a good look at the life of teenagers. From going to raves and doing drugs and of course the sexual activity, more movies should be made like this to show how kids really are.
This film is the best film i have ever seen. It has a story, its enertaining, and its a good teaching tool. The way the movie was filmed is great because it force's you to take a good look about whats going on in the movie.I think that if this film was shown in public schools then teen birth rate would go down as well as teens with aids and other S.T.D'S All in all this is just a great film and should be honerd.
Unlike the parent who gave a review prior to me, I enjoyed this movie, and I liked the message and the way it was portrayed. First of all, this movie is hilarious in some aspects just because of the characters' actions. Second, teenagers today talk about, dream about, and have sex. Why not make a movie about true teenage situations and thoughts? The message of the movie is great and it is brought out in a real way. Your kids don't need to see the message this way? They probably experience most of the same things at school.
In all of my life, I have never been more disgusted with a movie such as this one. Yes, I will admit, that it did cover some of the awful challanges that today's kids must come to face, but the way that it portrayed the characters was gross. It seemed to me that all this movie was about was sex and violence. That's not what we want our children to see. I got the hidden message, I just didn't like how the message was displayed.
