Synopsis: Ken Burns' Jazz (2000)
Synopis: For the third part of his American Trilogy--following THE CIVIL WAR and BASEBALL--Ken Burns takes on "that most American of art forms": jazz. The 10-part, 19-hour film begins with the music's roots in post-Civil War New Orleans and concludes roughly a century later. The story focuses not only on the personalities and events that helped define the music but also on the social and cultural climate in which they emerged, making KEN BURNS' JAZZ a film about more than just music.Features: Ken Burns' Jazz (2000)

Whether you are a hip hop fan or not, you have to give it credit for help keeping the music alive. Rappers like Guru, Tribe Called Quest and Digable Planets have used jazz beats or collaborated with jazz artists. Even singers like Sade and Jill Scott use jazz as well but in a modern setting.
Burns should have used real jazz experts and historians who have been there as opposed to Marsalis and Crouch because they are very biased in their view.
Great series, but it falls flat in the end. ...
