Keepsake is an adventure game starring a magic apprentice named Lydia, who journeys to the prestigious Dragonvale Academy to continue her studies. Upon her arrival, Lydia is surprised to find her best friend, Celeste, missing along with the university’s staff. The mystery deepens when Lydia discovers the treasured keepsake she gave Celeste a doll lying on the floor. The apprentice vows to find her mentor by exploring the nearly abandoned Dragonvale Academy and unlocking the secrets behind the runes and glyphs surrounding her.

As in most titles in the genre, the action takes place from a thirdperson viewpoint with a mousedriven interface used to walk, examine, converse with characters, and interact with items. An assortment of puzzles and trials are featured, all of which rely on logic rather than dexterity to solve. Lydia will learn more about her mystical talents as she delves deeper into the academy’s hallways, rooms, corridors, and dark secrets. If certain puzzles prove too challenging, Lydia can count on the help of Zak, her dragon companion throughout the adventure. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

    Pros: effects and concepts

Cons: controls, voice acting, short, confusing

Well, I purchased this game, thinking it would have action, magic, and mystery in it. Let's just say that I spent the entire game thinking "So, when do I get to use my powers?" It was definitely a let down as everytime magic was used, I... had no part in it. I basically spent most of the game waiting for people to stop talking. Also, the hints, though usually helpful are sometimes misleading. It's very irritating to be looking at something in the solarium, then be told to go to the observatory, only to find out that you missed something in the solarium. I felt like things moved too slowly and ended too quickly. This game should be longer for this price. I would be willing to sacrifice some of the great visual effects for a real plot line and a real ending. Read more Less
