Dinosaurs are back...to-back in JURASSIC PARK and JURASSIC PARK: THE LOST WORLD.

In JURASSIC PARK, an eccentric billionaire invites two paleontologists to his private island off South America, where he is constructing a wild animal park--whose specimens are genetically engineered dinosaurs. Breakthrough digital effects bring these extinct animals roaring back to life. Based on Michael Crichton's ravenous bestseller. Academy Award Nominations: 3. Academy Awards: 3, including Best Visual Effects.

JURASSIC PARK: THE LOST WORLD is the sequel to the smash dinosaur thriller. Dr. Ian Malcolm returns for more dino-horror when, four years after the disaster at the would-be amusement park attraction, another expedition is mounted to document the natural behavior of the beasts at mysterious Site B, the island where they were originally bred. The team--composed of Malcolm, a prehistoric behavioralist, a wildlife videographer, and a systems specialist--faces adversity in the form of a less-than-scrupulous company executive, an Ahab-like big game hunter, and, of course, the terrible lizards themselves. Marginally based on the Michael Crichton novel THE LOST WORLD. Academy Award Nomination: Best Visual Effects.

Ridiculous sequel has Goldblum returning to dinosaur island where his scientist girlfriend (Moore) has gone to study the animals. Brainless action yarn boasts a few spectacular sequences, but too many unbelievable moments (Goldblum's daughter subdue...s a velociraptor with her gymnastic skills!) and a heavy reliance on rehashing scenes from the original eventually sink this one. Once again, Stan Winston's animatronics and ILM's CGI effects are the real stars. Rated PG-13: graphic violence, profanity. Read more Less

It would take someone genius to think of the trailer part when Julianne Moore was on the glass and every time she moved, it would crack. I love the special effects in this movie. Everything looked so real. The only cheap part of this movie was a part... when the T-Rex attacked San Diego (YEAH! THE CITY I LIVE IN!) And you have to live in San Diego to see what was cheap. But other than that A masterpiece and Steven Spielberg does it again. Too bad he doesn't direct Lost World III. Read more Less
