Jungle Guitars boasts a title that sounds like it sounds on an old exotica album of the '50s, and indeed, the album revives the old Martin Denny trick of including birdsong and other rainforest field recordings in the tunes. Aside from that, however, Jungle Guitars is a fairly standard Strunz and Farah album, with the two guitarists working together to create intricate webs of new ageinfluenced easy listening instrumental pop. There's a bit of Peruvian influence here and there, as on the mandolindecorated "Selva" and the handful of songs goosed along by Latin hand percussion, and the tempos are a bit faster than on those Strunz and Farah releases that are aiming for a more relaxing feel. Other than that, this isn't much at all different than the duo's usual standard.

Biography

Strunz & Farah

Combining elements of Latin and Middle Eastern music (Jorge Strunz is Costa Rican while Ardeshir is Iranian), this acoustic guitar duo's world-jazz fusion style offers an interesting blend of music. Interesting percussion and rhythms from traditional instruments, plus the occasional guest (like India's L. Subramaniam), adds to the blend. - All Music Guide, All Music Guide Read more
