Jumpstart Typing PC Game

The 2003 version of JumpStart Typing is a rerelease of the original 1997 title of the same name. Although the box refers to the minigames by slightly different names in some cases, such as Extreme Foosball for the Keyboard Kicks soccer game and Ultimate Skateboarding instead of Roller Racing, the five minigames are the same. Two modes, competition and practice, are available. The targeted audience range has also been amended to include kids in the 712 age range in lieu of the 710 range listed on the original.

The background story creates the framework surrounding the minigames and the requirement to learn typing skills Professor Sparks' daughter Polly locks Coach Qwerty in the locker room and now Botley the robot needs your help in leading the typing team to victory. Players must take timed typing tests to earn Power Cards (based on wordperminute skills) to unlock the Trophy Room and free the coach, while taking lessons builds team strength needed for competing in the five minigames.

Minigames include Keyboard Kicks (type key combinations quickly and accurately to score goals), Roller Racing (keep the wheels turning by typing the letters as they appear), and Fans Go Wild (speed typing). Cliff Hanger sends your climber up the mountain by accurately typing key combinations, while Trail Blazer requires accuracy to keep the skiers on their feet. All the games, except for Fans Go Wild, offer awards of bronze, silver and gold medals, and a Closing Ceremony occurs once the coach is set free. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
