Pro Reviews: Journey

  • All Music Guide

The follow-up album to Change, Sierra's August 2001 release The Journey combines the styles of acoustic pop and praise worship with subtle influences of folk. Carefully crafted and beautifully arranged, the project was produced by Scott Williamson, known for his work with Point of Grace and FFH, and Brian Green, who has worked with Phillips, Craig Dean and Cindy Morgan. Both producers encouraged the trio -- composed of members Wendi Foy Green, Jennifer Hendrix, and Marianne Adams -- to reach for new and innovative approaches both vocally and musically. The result is a project containing strong and engaging harmonies, fresh musical choices, and lyrical depth. Songs include "I Will Exalt the One," "That's What I Know," and "I See."
