Pros: Love All Jams!
Cons: None!
The Jones Girls truly rock! The twofer album was pure genius. "The Jones Girls" & "At Peace With Woman" are two of the best albums. Noticing the lush and seductive sounds of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, this should be a smash hit. Several hits came out from these two albums.
From "The Jones Girls", the songs "You're Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" and "Who Can I Run To?" are creamy confections. "You're Gonna Make Love Somebody Else" has a hard bass and sweet string arrangements that makes you wanna dance. "Who Can I Run To?" is another creamy confection that has a sweet guitar lush sound and a string arrangement that leaves you breathless. The other songs are cream songs too like "We're A Melody", "I'm At Your Mercy" and the jazzy song "The Feelings Killing Me".
The next album is "At Peace With Woman". This album totally rocks. The disco tinged "Dance Turns Into A Romance" is a good start off this album. "Children Of The Night" is a nice opener for this album. "Sitting On Top Of The World" is a cute bouncy track written by Teddy Pendergrass, Lou Rawls, Cynthia Biggs, Dexter Wansel.
"When I'm Gone" is a sexy track that deals with infidelity. The hidden track "Eternally" is the sweetest track of all. Those strings, guitar flourishes, the sexy bass is all working for me.
Shirley Jones is the strongest soprano on this piece. Shirley, Valorie and Brenda showcases tight harmonies, sisterly love and strong vocal productions. These 3 divas paved the way for all girl groups in a male dominated business. With the production backing of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, these divas made a name for themselves.
If you want sisterly love and beautiful harmonies from the old school, then cop this twofer. U won't be sorry.
