    True music for Lovers.

    Pros: Lush Ballads and Grooves.

    Cons: NONE!!!

This is a must have for any lover of Jazz music and even for your non Jazz listener. The ballads are lush and beautiful next to Coltranes band. If your date/significant other appreciates Great music, this is what you play at a dinner date. Autumn Ser...enade and Lush Life are my favorites to play off this album but the entire album is fabulous. If you are just beginning to listen to Jazz this is a great album for you to start your collection off with!! Read more Less

Pro Reviews: John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman [Bonus Tracks/SACD]

  • All Music Guide

John Coltrane's matchup with singer Johnny Hartman, although quite unexpected, works extremely well. Hartman, who had not recorded since 1956, was in prime form on the six ballads, and his versions of "Lush Life" and "My One and Only Love" have never been topped. Coltrane's playing throughout the session is beautiful, sympathetic, and still exploratory; he sticks exclusively to tenor on the date. At only half an hour, one wishes there were twice as much music, but what is here is classic, essential for all jazz collections. [This SACD edition also includes a stereo mix of the album.]

John Coltrane
