Jimmy Davis is best-known as the co-writer (along with Roger "Ram" Ramirez and James Sherman) of the jazz standard "Lover Man," which was first recorded by Billie Holiday in 1944, and has been recorded by countless performers since, including Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Lena Horne, Betty Carter, Shirley Horn, and more.
