Jesse Woodson James born in Kearney Missouri in 1847, son of a Baptist minister. Many reasons (or excuses) have been offered relating to Frank and brother Jesse’s decision to pursue a life of crime. Some suggest that they were mistreated by Union soldiers while serving with the Confederacy during World War 2; others insist that they were seeking revenge against the railroad interests who allegedly forced the James family off their own property.
