Saxophonist Jerry Dodgion is a native Californian who carries on the great West Coast tradition of laidback swinging jazz. First gaining performance experience in the 1950s, Dodgion logged hours with various bandleaders, including Gerald Wilson, Rudy Salvini, and others. By the beginning of the '60s he had performed with such influential artists as saxophonist Benny Carter, trumpeter Red Norvo, and singer Frank Sinatra, as well as Benny Goodman's ensemble.
