A Mexican descendant, singer Jennifer Pena was born in Corpus Christi, TX, debuting in the Tejano music scene at the age of six while participating in different children's contests. At the age of 12, the young artist accomplished one of her major goals by singing at Houston's ~Astrodome, paying tribute to her idol, Selena. That record led to her being nominated for a Tejano Music Award, achieving the title of Female Artist of the Year. In 1997, her album Jennifer was released, featuring a cover of Rick James' "Super Freak." Her voice was soon added to the movie Selena. After being nominated for a Grammy award, Abrazame y Besame became her third successful solo record.
