Ceramic top not "cracked up" to what it's supposed to be

Cons: Ceramic top prone to thermal breaks and inconsistent oven temp

After having the ceramic top replaced 3 times in less than 2 years because of thermal breaks, I believe there must be a design flaw present even though Jenn-Air says there isn't. The customer support is excellant, and I have not paid a cent for t...he prompt replacement of the tops, but I am concerned about what happens after the warranty expires. I also have monitored the oven temperature closely and it varies about 30 degrees from the desired temp. You are able to calibrate the oven temp by increasing or decreasing the desired temp automatically, but while the oven is in use, the temp varies widely. The downdraft vent is a minimally helpful when using a low profile pan, but tends to suck the flames of the burner toward the vent and away from the pot or pan. The downdraft vent does not help at all when using a pot, so do not assume you will be getting a satisfactory ventilation system with this stove. I do not recommend this stove for anyone who likes to bake or wants a good ventilation system or who wants to avoid the aggravation of replacing the ceramic top every few months. Read more Less
