    jenn air downdraft

Pros: high output burner, simmer burner, and i love ths convection oven

Cons: i wish it had the 2 burners included, the grill is worhtless

I purchased the Jenn air dual fuel downdraft stainless range in august. I, unlike a lot of the other reviews love it. I never had gas range before, and it is wonderful. It is a bit more messy, but well worth it. The oven is great! If you have never had a convection oven, get one! On the customer service. I have never had to call them yet, but most customer service sucks these days anyway! I read all the bad reviews and am glad that i did not listen to them!

    Looks can be deceiving-RUN!

    Pros: Sleek look

    Cons: Everything else!

Bought brand new home with a JennAir range. At first glance, the look was very upscale and sleek, but the quality of this product is awful. A week or two after moving in, I had to place a call for service because the burners on one side weren' working. We have now been in the house almost a year and every month have had to call for service for one reason or another. Some of the calls were to repair the repairman's work - that was scary. So, we went back to the place where the builder purchased the unit and without hesitation they are replacing this appliance. They warned us that if we didn't like JennAir, not to replace it with either a Kitchen Aid, Amana, Whirlpool or Maytag appliances because they are all from the same manufacturer. I'm not sure if we just happen to get a lemon, but I'm not taking any chances. In our previous house, we remodeled our kitchen and purchased a Dacor. In the five years we owned our Dacor, I placed one call for service. We are in the process of replacing our JennAir with a Dacor and hopefull put this nightmare to an end.

    Jennair Dual Fuel

By Andrew  Feb 18, 2008 | 3 out of 3 found this Jenn-Air JDS9865BDP Pro-Style Modular Dual-Fuel Downdraft Range With Convection - Stainless Steel review helpful

    Pros: Down Draft Dual Fuel

    Cons: Extreemely Unreliable

We have a dual fuel Jennair. We were attracted to its down draft feature since we could not use a vertical vent.

We also liked having gas for the stove top for its good temperature control. We liked the electric oven because of its self cleaning feature.

We haven't liked the performance, the service, or the company support.

This appliance has a major problem with operation above 400 degrees F. When I roast beef or lamb I like to start at 450 degrees F and lower it to 350 degrees after 20 minutes. Recently (out of wuarranty of course) the oven has failed (shut down completely ) half the times I have tried. Of course this happens at Christmas, Easter, etc. I have had to finish at a neighbor's house, my barbecue etc. I have had service people out three times with no satisfaction.

I tried Jennair customer service ( they don't give a telephone number) but they use some software that parrots back your complaints, i.e., "I am sorry you are having a problem with your oven please call a serviceman". I get more support from India for my computer.

We are having a party this weekend and I just bought a stand alone oven for back-up. It failed today heating my daughter's "ore ida's" at 450 degrees F.

I have not replaced it because the only option for downdraft has been Jennair. Since it doesn't work, venting the stove has become a joke. I will start looking for a "non-Jennair" replacement no matter where it vents. If you have any sense you will start by not buying a Jennair regardless of how good it looks on paper.
