    GURU...You're just fine

    I like the jazzy tones in this CD... just some of the material was being used in one song and in another, like the one w/ Kelis and the one w/ Macy Gray. TIGHT BEATS INDEED... so GURU is not bad at all. MY FAVORITE IS THAT SOULFUL "CERTIFIED".

    Why go soft? I was hyped up waiting for THIS album to drop!! Jazzmatazz again, and with the album entitled 'Street Soul' I was expecting straight slangin' beats, some smooth jazzy undertones, and Guru's characteristic lyrical performance. Instead, G...uru touches softness. Puffy softness. That new baby he got has affected the hardcore side of his brain. In the insert, Guru says that he wanted to get cats to make babies with the music on this cd. WHAT??!!?!?? So you already know what to expect now - some damn bullsh*t. Fortunately, that's not the case. Guru STILL produced a solid album worth buying. But first, here's what makes this album come close to Puffy softness. The music of this album gets pretty mellow and I got to let yall know this isn't jazz like the first two Jazzmatazz albums. The first two albums had classic jazz sounds on it - you know, like trumpets, electronic organ and stuff. THIS album is R&B jazzy. Matter of fact, this is almost like listening to alot of R&B instrumentals with Guru rapping on it. I wasn't prepared for that at all. Plus, Guru has most of his guest artists SINGING too long on this album. Where is the 'Street Soul' dawg?     It's so good to see the reaccurence of real hip hop. Guru has once again managed to blend in Jazz and rap and has come away with a masterpiece.

    Look out for Talib Kweli and Dj Hi Tek
