The third film in the successful JAWS franchise follows yet another great white shark with a taste for humans, this time invading the opening ceremonies of a marine park in Florida. The brand new complex offers visitors the chance to view the undersea kingdom from the safety of glass tunnels on the seabed. When a 35-foot great white breaks into the structure--seemingly in revenge for the death of its progeny--a group of marine biologists must do battle with the mighty mother beast.

  • Overall:

Okay in 3-D, Pretty bad otherwise

Originally intended to be an all-out spoof titled Jaws 3, People 0, Universal apparently decided to play it straight and cash in on the 3-D boom of the early 80's. The result is funnier than any comedy they could have made. Mike Brody (Dennis Quaid...) just can't seem to take a hint and has grown up to become the head maintenance guy of Sea World. After they capture a small Great White shark, it's gigantic mother (!) comes looking for it, and wreaks havoc on the park. It's up to Quaid, his marine biologist girlfriend (Bess Armstrong) and a cocky underwater photographer to stop it (Simon MacCorkindale). Decent performances are no match for a dreadful screenplay and some of the worst special effects ever seen in a major motion picture. The 3-D effects are okay, but TV prints are flat, thus removing that aspect. Pretty terrible, but better than Jaws: The Revenge. Rated PG: graphic violence, profanity. Read more Less

All that was needed was Godzilla to romp on Sea World. Cheesey, badly written, acted and even Dennis Quaid is embarrassed of it. Horrid special effects combined with idiots at Universal who conspired to murder the Jaws franchise...I saw saw this in ...theaters and would have walked out if I was not on a date. I am a die hard "Jaws" fan and this is the kind of film that gives sequels a bad name. Read more Less
