Jan Carlo DeFan grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he began to play guitar at the young age of 5. By 12 he was recording he and his sister Elan's performances with cobbled-together equipment; by 16, he was the youngest A R rep in the history of Warner Mexico. DeFan eventually resigned from Warner and parlayed his talents into managing his sister's burgeoning career. Moving to California, the duo developed a production company and set about recording and promoting Elan's debut LP Street...
