Pros: All of it
Cons: None
This tape, yes tape was the soundtrack to the beginning of my relationship with who is now my husband of 13 years. I think back and listen fondly. She was kickin ass in 1995!!
Pros: All Of It
Cons: None Of It
This album is pure brillience. Anybody who gave/gives it less than a 5 star rating needs to consult their doctor right away.

Pros: None
Cons: Sucks
Alanis Morissette is always full of herself. Just another cocky lowlife MTV sellout. That ass sniffer queenrulerus thinks she's true music along with that other $%*! he's always mentioning, but actually doesn't have the balls to admit that he actually listens to her. Real music would be Pantera, Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Deicide, Six Feet Under, Slayer, King Diamond, and Sepultura.
Pros: Lyrics, 2 or 3 amazing songs
Cons: Most tracks are very bland
To my memory, this was my first cd purchase. I was 10, and for me, this was a first glimpse into an artist of unrestrained honesty. Her songs were far from goundbreaking musically, but songs like "you learn" and "hand in my pocket" possessed good enough hooks to be intriguing and instantly likable. In many ways, this album was a first step into my obesession with music, a gateway if you will, so, in that respect, it has pretty deep personal meaning. Sadly, a few songs are victims of mundanity, providing even less pleasure than they did upon first listen 8 years ago. Although some songs are nearly deserving of the coveted "classic" label, many are just too ordinary to enjoy.
awsome album, she hits the reality of todays women right on the nail!!!! great true meaning of lyrics and outstanding voice. keep up the great job alanis, we here you....
one of the best singer/songwriters of the modern age
She is
This her best effort. she went down hill after.
ALANIS AND HER SONGS ARE GREAT...
I loved it. This is one of her best albums ever in my opinion.
She came, she saw, she conquered the universe armed with one jagged little pill. She's a steady rocker full of angst and passion. "All I Really Want", "You Oughta Know", "Hand In My Pocket", "Ironic", "Head Over Feet", "You Learn" are the tracks that defined how rock music should sound like in the 1990s and it took one camera-shy Canadian to do it. Morissette joins the ranks of Melissa Etheridge, Alannah Myles, Tina Turner, Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Nicks with her straightforward mannerisms, unabashed lyrics and courageous presence.
Probably my favorite album out of ~100 or so, and I was not an Alanis fan prior to this purchase...
You oughta know that this is one of the best selling albums ever in history (more that 30 million) Why do you call yourself as a non-fan of Alanis, and you buy yourself this incredible album. You're such a loser! Trust me!! hehe.
Sold in the US alone-over 30,000,000 world wide! That should tell you enough-no matter what you hear-this album is perhaps and more than likely the best album ever-the 90's for sure. This album is a part of history and will never be equalled in terms of artistic acheivment and pop culture phenomenon. Peace out
This was a huge disappointment for me when I got it, I had great expectations, it being the huge success it was. You Oughtta Know is kinda overrated... it's still pretty good but not as good as hyped. I'm not a fan of Hand In My Pocket, You Learn, and Head Over Feet, although they seem to be pretty popular. I didn't like Mary Jane or Right Through You either. All I Really Want and Perfect are terrible!! Ironic though, is one of my favourite songs by anybody, and by far Alanis's best. Not the Doctor, Wake Up, and Forgiven were pretty good too. Her voice is usually pretty good but often it's really aweful. And as for her lyrics, which everyone seems to love, she's a whinging bitch.
I love the lyrics in all of her songs. They have great meaning.
When Alanis reached out to a world-wide audience back in 1995-6, I was quick to dismiss her as just another MTV darling. Honestly, if I hadn't bought the album off my sister a few months ago, I might still have done so. In my opinion, "You Oughta Know" is the worst song on the album: the only one that I never listen to. Also, "Hand In My Pocket" and "Ironic" are not among my favorites, either. Those would be "All I Really Want", "Perfect", "Forgiven", "You Learn", and "Not The Doctor". On average, though, both music and lyrics are great, and I've listened to little else for the past month or so.
P.S. Am I the only one who is finding it pretty tough to "enjoy yourself and have fun" in the face of that irritating set of rules and regulations on the right? "Do refrain from lecturing us."
Very good! This album is unquestionably one of
the 90's most exciting female rock musician's
albums!
This album is BY FAR the most irritating piece of work ever released by anyone in the entire history of the world. These songs get inside your head and they just eat away at your sanity. On occasion I have gotten one of these songs stuck in my head and darn near gone crazy from it. They are so annoying that I have considered suicide as a means of escaping the severe pain that they inflicted to my mind.
If you had any heart at all I would strongly suggest destroying this album if you currently own it so that people like me do not have to suffer any longer.
Thank you dearly.
this album is brilliant for those days when you're angry at anything!
great listening.
i especially like perfect, because i relate to it.
