Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce formed the folk-pop duo Jackopierce in the early '90s. Through strong word-of-mouth and their independent releases, the duo built up a strong following on college campuses across the country, leading to a major-label contract with AM. They began work on an album, helped by producer T Bone Burnett who brought in studio musicians to bolster Jackopierce's sensitive guitar pieces.
