Pros: Light weight for size. Good picture when it works

Cons: 90 seconds to star. No parts. Bulb burns out: No part.

I purchased a JVC model number HD 61Z786, manufacture date March 2005, on April 11, 2005 from Video Only. On Sunday 2/26/2006 the screen went blank and would not restart. The next day I called Video Only and they gave me the name and number of a JVC ...warranty service shop. I called the service provider and was told that “the bulb burned out.” I was told that the bulb is on back order from JVC and it would not be available for 2 to 3 weeks. I then called around to several other JVC warranty shops and was told the same thing: “2 to 3 weeks for a bulb.” I then called JVC directly and spoke to a technical adviser. She told me that there should have been a warning before the bulb burned out and that something else must be wrong with the set. She gave me the name of another company to call which I did. The technician who answered my call stated that a computer error caused the failure and I would need a new circuit board. The problem he said was that “the part [circuit board] was on back order from JVC and it will take two to three weeks for a new one.” It is now 3/9/2006, the $2,600 JVC sits blank in my living room and will not be repaired until 3/23/2006. So if you are considering buying a JVC plan on a month before it gets repaired. Read more Less
