    JVC GZ-MG130

By Nick  Sep 14, 2007 | 4 out of 5 found this JVC GZ-MG130 review helpful

Pros: I like the fast start up time, basic screens, point and shoot, zooms at different speeds, holds 7 hours of video (highest setting recommended), battery life indicator, price is great ($349 @ Fry's, but price matched it at Best Buy), small & light weight

Cons: The software that comes with it is horrible. It is not a full blown program. You have to pay for the upgrade. Not user friendly. No transitions. Locked ups computer when merging files and creating a full length DVD. The quality is fair (470 lines of resolution, 680K pixels), Oh yeah did I mention to you that the software sucks.

Overall the camera suits my needs. I just have to find a more efficient way to download and create personal family DVD movies for everyone to watch. I can not use the *.MOD format the camera exports with other movie software (MS Movie Maker, Nero, ...Studio 7, etc.) Once I find a way, through tech support, software, updates, etc., I think I will enjoy this camera better. This is my first hybrid digital camcorder. I think I prefer this camcorder over DV tape or DVD. Happy Shooting! Read more Less

    Not So Great

    By K. Rose  Jul 17, 2008

Pros: Long recording time with hard drive

    Cons: Lousy software

After shooting video footage and downloading to the PC, I found out that the time-date stamp does not download with the video. In order to get that, you have to buy the proprietary "Sharestation" for $200. Time date stamp is mentioned as a ...feature so false advertising! Read more Less
